Before a work is created, whether a large installation on Heidelberg Street, a sculpture or a painting, there exists a body of small to medium sized (3x5 or 5x8 inches) compositions that Guyton calls “studies.” This is a process that Guyton carries out prior to creating a larger work. The process continues during the creation of a larger work and even after the work is completed. In the end, the work may not resemble the study at all. These works are small, and they're very easy to handle.
